At Arque Systems’ innovation campus in Jülich, Germany, a unique quantum computer is being developed at the forefront of technological research. A visit to the facility provided me firsthand insights into the technology, the engineering, and the people shaping its future.
The technology is made up of many different components, connected to one another by tubes and cables. I gave myself the freedom to rethink these arrangements and try out unconventional setups.
Golden Core Technology as a design principle: the cryostat, the hidden heart of the quantum computer, was brought to the surface through a gold exterior and a circular ventilation structure inspired by its stacked-disc geometry.
The perforated pattern visualizes the millions of qubits in motion inside the machine’s core, translating invisible computation into a tangible design language.
At the Jülich Supercomputing Centre (JSC), Arque Systems’ first quantum computer is currently being installed according to the product design I developed for this project, moving from concept to reality!
