Golden Core Technology as a design principle: the cryostat, the hidden heart of the quantum computer, was brought to the surface through a gold exterior and a circular ventilation structure inspired by its stacked-disc geometry. The perforated pattern visualizes the millions of qubits in motion inside the machine’s core, translating invisible computation into a tangible design language.
Arque Systems’ quantum computer’s beautiful golden heart sits hidden inside a cover that reaches -273°C, the extreme cold this advanced technology needs to work. A visit to the facility provided me firsthand insights into the technology, the engineering, and the people shaping its future.
The technology is made up of many different components, connected to one another by tubes and cables. I gave myself the freedom to rethink these arrangements and try out unconventional setups.
At the Jülich Supercomputing Centre (JSC), Arque Systems’ first quantum computer is currently being installed according to the product design I developed for this project, moving from concept to reality!
