I am a director and designer based in Berlin, working between space, product and image, combining three-dimensional thinking, a deep understanding of materials & making, and storytelling.

I grew up between Berlin and Cologne and studied Product Design at Berlin’s UdK and Tama Art University Tokyo. After university I learned leather craft in a bespoke shoe workshop, then designed consumer electronics and visited manufacturers in China for ARTWIZZ, before building large-scale sculptures at the studio of artist TOMÁS SARACENO. That spatial, scenographic work led me to MEIRÉ, where I spent three years on brand environments for Deutsche Telekom and BMW. Those years shaped my visual sensibility and taught me how to translate the world of global brands into something you can see and feel. I later co-founded SMS3D, a Berlin-based CGI and animation studio, where I ran the creative direction, brought in and looked after the clients, and built the teams around each project.

I started out making things with my hands, and over time the work has grown into concept and direction. Three-dimensional thinking, an understanding of materials and making, and storytelling are the threads that run through all of it.

● ESSENCE
Every project has a reason it exists. An idea, a motivation, a vision.
My first job is to find that reason together with the client and name it.
Once the essence is clear, I translate it into a concept and guide the
design decisions that follow from it.

● CONTEXT
Nothing is made in a vacuum. Time, society, technology and ecology all shape what a project can become.
New tools open possibilities that did not exist a year ago.
The more digital the world becomes, the more it matters to create experiences that bring people together in real space.
A changing climate adds responsibility to every material choice.
Part of my work is bringing where things stand into the conversation, so we can pay attention together.

● PROCESS
How we work together decides what the work becomes.
People do their best work when they’re trusted, not told what to do.
Clients want to feel that someone is actually listening.
My job is to know the people on both sides and lead a process that is allowed to be fun. That process is where the best ideas turn up, and I make sure they reach the work.
